About Marianne

The natural wild has always capitivated my imagination and my heart.

I was raised in the pristine Rocky Mountains which greatly influences my artistic process. My home on the West Coast of BC, continues that journey.

Hand skills inherited from Scandinavian makers, honed since childhood, and new skills learned from various artists serve as the foundation for my work in fibre sculpture and mixed media art.

Each work is sculpted using felting techniques, layered from inside to outside over carefully built wire armatures. Some pieces attempt to capture realism and some are fantastical. Where possible I source fibres and materials that are natural, donated, recycled, low impact and authentic. I use a palette of blended fibres to create color and texture. By combining natural fibres, and found objects, imaginings are brought to life.

Through this work, I hope to inspire a deeper apprectiation for the relationship between intricate craftsmanship and the natural world.
